Bank Workers’ Unity, in its issue dated 15th Jan 2022 came out with an article on separate toilet for women in bank branches / offices. The initiative of Canara Bank was hailed for having come out with a guideline to its branches / offices for providing separate toilet for women. When the attention of Com Su Venkatesan, Honourable MP from Madurai was drawn by Bank Employees Federation of India, he immediately took up this issue with the Honourable Union Finance Minister, Indian Banks Association and all the Public Sector Managing Directors. His letter was published by BWU in its issue dated 15th February 2022.
In response to his letter, State Bank of India has addressed a letter PRM/RS/21-25/587 dated 25 02 2022 to Com Su Venkatesan, wherein it has been stated that the bank had instructed all the circle offices to provide separate toilet for women at all bank branches / offices all over the country. Such a positive response from SBI is encouraging and is to be appreciated. The bank employees in general and women employees in particular hope that other banks would soon follow Canara Bank and State Bank of India.
BWU takes up issues which others hesitate to take or neglect.. Good job.
A commendable job. Kudos to BWU for having brought out this basic issue.
