At the initiative of the All India Union Bank Employees Federation and the intervention of the MPs Elamaram Kareem and A A Rahim, the request of the new-recruits of Union Bank of India, Kerala conceded and the venue of document verification changed to Ernakulam from Mangalore.
Verification of Certificates
The management of Union Bank is in the process of calling candidates selected through IBPS in clerical cadre for verification of certificates and other pre-recruitment formalities. They have been asked to report to the respective Field General Managers’ Office (FGMO) for the same. In most of the places, FGMOs are situated at State Capital baring a few States like Kerala, Jharkhand and North Eastern States. For Kerala the FGM Office is in Mangalore (Karnataka), for Jharkhand in Patna (Bihar) and for North Eastern States in Kolkata (West Bengal) placing the candidates selected for these states in a difficult situation forcing them to travel hundreds of kilometers from their home State for completing the pre-recruitment formalities.
All India Union Bank Employees Federation immediately took up the matter with Union Bank Management to intervene and complete the pre-recruitment formalities at the respective states.
Intervention of MPs
The Central management responded partially by changing the reporting office for North Eastern States to Guwahati instead of Kolkata. All India Union Bank Employees Federation and its State units were further pursuing for change of other venues. Simultaneously the state Units were also pursuing for this and at the request of Kerala State Unit, Elamaram Kareem, Member of Parliament from CPI(M) has written a letter to the Managing Director and CEO of Union Bank for change of venue from Mangalore to Ernakulum. Similarly another CPI (M) MP from Kerala A A Rahim has also written to the Union Finance Minister in this regard.
Venue changed
Owing to persistent efforts from All India Union Bank Employees Federation and the letters from Members of Parliament, now the Union Bank management has relented from its earlier stand and shifted the reporting office for Kerala candidates from Mangalore to Ernakulum for certificate verification and pre-recruitment formalities.
The active role of the Federation and the timely intervention of the people’s representatives helped hundreds of new recruits even before joining the Bank.
The effective role played by the All India Union Bank Employees Federation, is to be lauded. The new recruits are helped due to the demand of the union. The author has brought this clearly in his article. Thanks to the MPs for having raised these concerns, without which, the bank management may dilly dally the issue of document verification centres
Really a good achievement of our mighty federation.
Federation has taken a right position in demanding change of venue for the new recruits. Interest of the Jharkhand candidates should also to be pursued further.
