It is really a great gesture by the CSB Bank to have implemented the menstrual leave of one day in a month for the female employees who undergo physical and psychological pressure during that period. It is the first of its kind not only in banking industry but also in all service sectors. While congratulating the Bank for its gesture, we call upon the Bank to implement the 11th bipartite settlement immediately. Simultaneously we urge upon all the Public and private sector banks, co-operative banks, regional rural banks, the Union Government and the State Governments to introduce menstrual leave at the earliest. The communication of the CSB Bank is reproduced here below.
We are pleased to inform you that, on the occasion of International Women’s Day, the Bank has introduced Menstrual Leave for all female employees, effective immediately.
Under the new policy, female employees will be entitled to take up to one day of paid menstrual leave per month. This leave is over and above the regular entitlement of other categories of leaves.
Menstrual Leave cannot be clubbed with Casual Leave, nor can it be accumulated/carried forward.
As per the standard leave workflow, when applied in HRMS, this leave will also flow to L1 Manager for approval, however, considering the objective of this leave type, supervisors are being directed to NOT Reject this leave request.
We recognize that menstruation can be a difficult and painful experience for many women, and that it can impact their ability to give it their best at work. We hope that this new policy will support our female employees and demonstrate our commitment in promoting a positive work environment.
If you have any questions or concerns about the new policy, please don’t hesitate to reach out to HR for clarification.
Thank you for your ongoing commitment to our company, and we wish all our female staff a happy and healthy International Women’s Day in advance.
